Baby update: 34 weeks-- 5 lbs, 6 oz.

Hello friends and family,
Today I went in for my last 'long ultrasound'. The little guy is still looking good-- and hating the camera. He actually snarled which was pretty funny. He appeared to be chewing/swallowing too. He was measuring at 5 lbs, 6 oz...we'll just see how accurate that was once he's delivered. After measuring him for about 30 minutes, I do trust its a good estimate. According to their calculations, he's still set for a May 3rd delivery date, yet my 40 week calendar will show a May 6th date. Again, I know I'll hear more from my doctor at tomorrow's appointment, or my 36 week one on what we should anticipate for labor.
Enjoy the photos of the little one. The first is more of a profile while the bottom on is a shot of his chin (with an eye orbit). I can see Doug's very-heart shaped face. He says in the first though the baby has my lips. He did have some pretty big ones where as you'd face him they're more like my sister's: big--but beautiful, Linda! Ha. In a profile view though they curl up like mine. We'll see about all these predictions in a few weeks. I was assured again today though that he's definitely a BOY.

Our First Baby shower

Our amazing friends Amaris and Angie threw us and the Falcon's (Rachelle & Corey) a shower this weekend. It was full of delicious food, wonderful cupcakes, friends, family, games, and amazing gifts. I have more photos on our 'family photo' link on the left side of the screen. Enjoy! Angie got us some little Aggie onesies I'd never seen before. Our little guy will be sporting them this summer and when football season starts. We played "Pin the Bow on the Baby" with some surprise close-up shots of the dads-to-be. Great idea Amaris! Amaris also made this beautiful diaper cake. There were some many surprises between each layer: toiletries, onessies, birp cloths, you name it!
Uncle Ryan was able to fly down from NYC to make the shower. He DREW this amazing fish in a bowl for the babies room. It was so pefect it could've been an offically trademarked Seuss product. Some of Angie's delicious cupcakes. She was so sweet to ask what our favorite flavors were. We had Hummingbird, Strawberry, Chocolate, and the always popular Vanilla. Another of the cooks is in the background, Glenn.

Pat Green at the Houston Rodeo

Doug and I were able to go to the rodeo this past Thursday. I was officially on Spring Break, but I was in a NCLEX review (exam for RNs) all week. Needless to say it was an exhausting week.
There were some interesting new exhibits in the Livestock Show arena. They had one called "The Birthing Center"...something like that. And it had videos playing of animals delivering. They even had the 'new moms' with their new babies there to view also. Plenty of new calves, piglets, and lambs running around. I decided to get a shot next to a 'new mom'.
I really liked this little rabbit's odd ears.

Evan's Baptismal/ 33 weeks pregnant

Last Sunday Doug and I were able to baptize our 2nd official Godson! We felt very priviledged to be asked of this by Lauren and Ryan. It was at Holy Rosary in Downtown/Midtown Houston. Evan Patrick Heffernan had a great time playing with his bare feet throughout the ceremony. H was able to wear a baptismal gown that's been in the Heffernan family since the 1940's!

Seabrook Half Marathon/ Nursery Update

This weekend was very cold, but Doug and I were up extra early on Saturday morning for his 1/2 Marathon Run in Seabrook. I took the video below during his first half. He was smoking!

Doug was doing great with his pace...till mile 10 when he ran into a rock which twisted his knee up. He continued running on it for 1.5 miles, then realized that was enough jarring. He still finished the race, which made me VERY proud of him. Woody and Shiela were back again this weekend to work on the baby's room. The wainscoating was painted and we purchased the paint for the Seuss-stripes that will be going up too. Things are moving along and looking beautiful!

Donna's Birthday! / Party at Linda's

Last Sunday, March 7th was Donna's birthday. We celebrated at Nani's house with some of Mammer's delicous Hummingbird cake and Crave cupcakes! Ryan was in town too, so Doug got to spend some good time with him--I was doing school things as usual... :/

The night before, my sister and Joel celebrated a party at their house for their nuptuals in Vegas back in November. The cake was delish! It was great to see my Abuelito, Brandon, and cousins--as usual. :o)

Progress in the Nursery!

Woody is here right now doing the construction that will be needed in the baby room--with Shiela's help :o) Check out the awesome job he's done so far! We were able to pick up our recliner/glider & ottoman too. I've never seen work like this done, so it's fun to see it first hand. Thanks so much Woody and Shiela! Ryan is in town this weekend. Doug, Ryan T, Ryan H and Quinn are out watching "Watchmen" right now. I'm sure I'll have pics of Ryan to post soon. Tomorrow is Donna's birthday, so I'll be sure to snag some there.

Doug's First 10K Rodeo Run

Just a quick entry about Doug's run this weekend. Early Saturday morning it was VERY windy and VERY cold. This kind of wind was not ideal for running...Doug braved it out (along with Ryan Peterson) and again finished faster than he thought. I'm so proud of Doug for taking up running with the enthusiasm and stamina he has shown. Normally he's my spectator, so I'm not sure what's gonig to happen when we're both racing together. Babysitter anyone? Haha. He has another half marathon in Seabrook in 2 weeks. Let's just hope for better weather...
We ran into the mother-and-daughter team of Marilyn & Amy. They were there to complete the 10K too.

Lent/ Starting the Nursery

Doug is doing a very brave thing and giving up all beef/pork products for Lent. He's also giving up CHEESE!! I'm giving up gossip sites on the internet: people.com and perezhilton.com. They're part of my usual daily web-site browsing, so it'll hopefully allow me to use my time more productively.

Doug and I ate at Fogo de Chão prior to Ash Wednesday. We filled up on plenty of meats, cheeses, and veggies. It was a late celebration of our (Engagement/Dating) Anniversary too. We pretty much ate ourselves into a Meat Coma....we'll return right after Easter I imagine. :P
Well we have started on the nursery by first picking up the furniture--gotta start somewhere, right? My dad brought the boxes over on Thursday and Doug and I spent Saturday just opening them up. We still need to stack the hutch/dresses and put the crib together. Here's what we're looking at so far: Yes, we're keeping a surfboard (my Jamaica-colored Fry in the corner) in his room. Woody will be coming by soon to install the baseboard molding and painting some Dr. Seuss stripes.
Don't worry, none of these ladies is me. Ha. I started aqua classes this past week for the first time (since being pregnant). For the first time I felt like I didn't have a belly. It was nice to be reminded that I still have ab muscles.
