Progress in the Nursery!

Woody is here right now doing the construction that will be needed in the baby room--with Shiela's help :o) Check out the awesome job he's done so far! We were able to pick up our recliner/glider & ottoman too. I've never seen work like this done, so it's fun to see it first hand. Thanks so much Woody and Shiela! Ryan is in town this weekend. Doug, Ryan T, Ryan H and Quinn are out watching "Watchmen" right now. I'm sure I'll have pics of Ryan to post soon. Tomorrow is Donna's birthday, so I'll be sure to snag some there.

Doug's First 10K Rodeo Run

Just a quick entry about Doug's run this weekend. Early Saturday morning it was VERY windy and VERY cold. This kind of wind was not ideal for running...Doug braved it out (along with Ryan Peterson) and again finished faster than he thought. I'm so proud of Doug for taking up running with the enthusiasm and stamina he has shown. Normally he's my spectator, so I'm not sure what's gonig to happen when we're both racing together. Babysitter anyone? Haha. He has another half marathon in Seabrook in 2 weeks. Let's just hope for better weather...
We ran into the mother-and-daughter team of Marilyn & Amy. They were there to complete the 10K too.

Lent/ Starting the Nursery

Doug is doing a very brave thing and giving up all beef/pork products for Lent. He's also giving up CHEESE!! I'm giving up gossip sites on the internet: people.com and perezhilton.com. They're part of my usual daily web-site browsing, so it'll hopefully allow me to use my time more productively.

Doug and I ate at Fogo de Chão prior to Ash Wednesday. We filled up on plenty of meats, cheeses, and veggies. It was a late celebration of our (Engagement/Dating) Anniversary too. We pretty much ate ourselves into a Meat Coma....we'll return right after Easter I imagine. :P
Well we have started on the nursery by first picking up the furniture--gotta start somewhere, right? My dad brought the boxes over on Thursday and Doug and I spent Saturday just opening them up. We still need to stack the hutch/dresses and put the crib together. Here's what we're looking at so far: Yes, we're keeping a surfboard (my Jamaica-colored Fry in the corner) in his room. Woody will be coming by soon to install the baseboard molding and painting some Dr. Seuss stripes.
Don't worry, none of these ladies is me. Ha. I started aqua classes this past week for the first time (since being pregnant). For the first time I felt like I didn't have a belly. It was nice to be reminded that I still have ab muscles.

What a great weekend!

This past weekend Doug and I were able to see all of our parents. I just feel great today and I think it's because I saw all of them along with Linda and Brandon, and my pals at a birthday party. The only people we didn't see were the Heffernan's. :( With school and Doug's job, it's sometimes hard to find the time to see so many people. Of course I still miss my cousins, aunts, uncles, and my Abuelito.
Here is Doug trying on the baby boy's towel (and early gift from Ed and Nicole). Thanks you guys! Donna let me know on Sunday that on potterybarn.com the bedding was not being stocked, so we would've not been able to order till MONTHS from now. Luckily Nicole saved the day! The bedding is actually a gift from my sister, so thanks to you too Linda.
Here's a photo from Ed's birthday party on Saturday night. It was a fun time eating delicious pastries by Angie and playing old Nintendo games on the Wii (hello Excitebike?)
Lauren, Donna, and Sheila were all in on creating this BEAUTIFUL basket for our home. I love the canister too. Lovely work ladies! Here's what I saw this morning when deciding what to wear-- a whole bunch of old Komen racing shirts. Ha. I can't wait to add this year's to my collection. I took an exam this morning and barely fit in the tiny desk. I swear an indention was left in my stomach. Fortunately I noticed and turned a bit so the baby had some more room.

Brandon being silly with his 'Lita' (Abuelita). It stinks the first one came out blurry...

29 weeks 2 days pregnant...and 40 lbs heavier. I suppose I can explain that in another entry. :o) And I'm obviously in a pre-pregnancy sweatshirt. I am holding a pillow for the baby's room.

28 weeks along...

We're all still trucking along this pregnancy...Doug went to his first Bradley class with me and was not too pleased when they snuck in a close-up delivery shot during a video. He was totally unprepared, so that made it very funny for me. (Info on the Bradley Method: http://www.bradleybirth.com/)

Baby Boy Fagala is doing well, I'll have an update on his latest progress after next week's check-up. He moves so much in my stomach and really packs a punch (or kick). I really don’t have to officially do kick-counting since I can count 10+ movements in 15 minutes or less sometimes. We haven’t gone to many more Spin classes since school started, but I know we’ll be back soon. We’re still managing with long walks at Memorial Park and I take the stairs when I can. I also have plenty of pregnancy DVDs here at home for those times I just don’t want to go anywhere. Still searching for a bathing suit for the Aqua classes at the gym…

In the meantime I'm busy at school one day a week, 2 days at Memorial Hermann Hospital, and one day in the Tomball community. It's so much better than last semester's 50+ hour weeks in lecture and at various hospitals-- and you all remember those were at NIGHT. I now have a day off during the week + weekends off. Doug is staying busy with working late and lots of running. I just signed him up for another half-marathon and 10K today. I'm so proud of him. Those that know him knew he was never a runner, so to see him now is so motivating.

We were able to order a huge recliner chair/ottoman for the baby's room. It's really comfy with plenty of space. The color red we chose is very similar to the photo above--but we went with microfiber and no pattern. Thanks Woody and Sheila! We'll be getting started very soon with painting the walls for the baby's room and adding the panel molding. We're going to have a really neat mural over it too. (Doug Sr's idea).

I'm giving the aunts-to-be and grandmothers-to-be potential baby shower dates, so April should be alot of fun. We are 100% sure on the bedding (Dr. Seuss) but still not on a name...

Doug in New York/ Bradley classes

I wanted to post two photos my bro-in-law Ryan sent me of Doug during his trip to NYC. I'm home alone till Sunday. No worries though, TWU has given me plenty of work to keep me busy. So maybe a quiet house is just what I needed...although I do miss my husband. He's already reported to me he's fallen on his knee while throwing a snowball at Ryan.

We'll be starting 'The Bradley Method' childbirth classes this Sunday. They last for 8 weeks, so wish us luck!
Doug at the Brooklyn Bridge. Taken 1-30-09.Doug at Google. (My other bro-in-law Steve used to work here...if you ever want to hear stories of AMENITIES galore, go talk to him). I can see why Google is consistently rated the #1 place to work.

Quick post: We're having a BOY!

I went in today for a repeat of my long ultrasound from a month ago. The ultrasound tech accidentally told me what we're having, so as you can read in the title of this post, it's going to be a BOY!

Quick story: I was alone--of course this happens when I'm alone and without my mom or Doug there to pressure me about finding out the sex--and started out by telling her "we don't know the sex". Looking back on it now it did seem vague...so she got to work and I was quiet. By the time she got to the legs she blurted "It's a boy". I thought she was joking, then she realized I didn't want to know. She felt SO BAD...I just laughed and told her it was okay. It was a funny way to get to know what we're having. My mom showed up during the appointment and didn't believe me when I told her I knew what the baby was. She said she thought the tech was going to cry...ah well. We know now and we're very happy.

(I almost feel like this is my fault... A few days ago I started saying how the next time we got pregnant I would not wait to find the sex out. I suppose I had this coming? Haha.)
He's 1 lb 13 oz. and my due date got pushed up to May 3, 2009. Here's a picture of the bedding we had already chosen. (Thankfullly Doug agreed this past week we could go unisex). Enjoy!
